All vehicles that are granted special rights in accordance with Section 35 (6) of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) are required to be marked with vehicle warning markings in accordance with DIN 30710. Vehicle warning markings ensure road safety by warning other road users of potential hazards at an early stage. Vehicle warning markings – who is required to display them?
The vehicles with special rights mentioned at the beginning include, in particular, municipal vehicles, such as street cleaning or winter service vehicles. However, vehicles used for road construction are also subject to the obligation to display warning markings. In addition, escort vehicles for heavy goods transport with a minimum weight of 3.5 tonnes, vehicle superstructures and attachments must be equipped with warning marking film. This is a red and white warning marking film that is reflective. Furthermore, vehicles used by the police, fire brigade and emergency services must also display warning markings. However, these markings differ in colour, as they must be yellow and red reflective. The first part of DIN 6171 specifies which colour must be used for vehicle warning markings.
Does your vehicle have a rotating beacon? Section 52 (4) of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) stipulates that such vehicles also require warning markings in accordance with DIN 30710.
To ensure that the vehicle warning marking is clearly visible even in difficult weather conditions with poor visibility, the RA2 reflection class according to the second part of DIN 67520 is the warning marking film of choice. Vehicle warning markings – self-adhesive – applying warning marking film correctly
When applying a vehicle warning marking – self-adhesive as a warning marking film – care must be taken to ensure that it is applied in the correct direction. This is also specified in DIN 30710. This means that attention should be paid to the alignment of the marking strips. The direction is always downwards and outwards. When attaching the self-adhesive vehicle warning mark as warning marking film or as a magnetic version, therefore take into account which ones should be attached pointing to the left and which ones pointing to the right.

Self-adhesive vehicle warning markings – order online for cars and other vehicles
According to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), vehicles that enjoy special status in everyday traffic or in operational mode must be marked with an appropriate vehicle warning sign in accordance with DIN 30710.
The reflective warning marking can be attached to the vehicle self-adhesively or magnetically so that it is visible to other road users at an early stage. Visibility must be guaranteed both during the day and at night. The warning marking for these vehicles must be highly weather-resistant in order to fulfil its purpose in the long term.
Warning marking for motor vehicles – Oralite
This red and white warning marking for motor vehicles is 141 mm wide and is available in rolls of 1 to 50 metres. This easy-to-apply product can be used for all Section 35 journeys (according to the German Road Traffic Regulations) and is self-adhesive.
It complies with DIN 30710, has a metallised coating and is designed to last for around 5 years. This warning marking is also suitable for vehicles that require large-format stickers, as it is available in widths of up to 120 cm. The Oralite product is also available in a set of 8 for containers. This type of warning marking is also self-adhesive.
Vehicle warning markings – for lorries and tractors
The item is easy to attach to the aluminium base, especially for vehicles with a higher tonnage. The reflective effect is already visible when approaching from a greater distance. The colours combine fluorescent red and highly reflective yellow. The format for the warning markings on these vehicles is 566 x 132 mm.
Vehicle warning markings – for trailers and semi-trailers
These are essentially similar to the features described above. The main difference lies in the design of the signal pattern, which differs noticeably from that of a tractor unit.
