Vehicles with special rights in accordance with § 35 (6) StVO (German Road Traffic Regulations)
Work vehicles with warning markings are a common sight on the roads. They serve as warnings to other road users and pedestrians. To ensure comprehensive safety, the installation of these markings is subject to comprehensive regulations. When it comes to warning markings on trucks with special rights, the DIN 30710 standard is decisive. It stipulates that all vehicles that claim special rights under § 35(6) of the StVO (Road Traffic Regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany), such as vehicles belonging to municipal building yards, street cleaning, road construction or winter maintenance services, must be fitted with a safety marking. These vehicles enjoy the privilege of driving on all roads and parts of roads, in any direction, on any side of the road and, if required for their work, at any time of day. If there is no or only insufficient warning markings for a car, van or lorry in accordance with DIN 30710, the special rights expire and the normal rules of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) apply. Warning lights or orange paintwork are not sufficient to claim the special rights regulated in the StVO.
DIN 30710 warning markings for lorries
At Warnmarkierung-online.de, you will find warning markings of all sizes. They take into account all requirements for the type of film, colour design, size and orientation. A DIN 3070 warning marking for lorries consists of a reflective film with white and red diagonal stripes, each 100 mm wide and printed at an angle of 45 degrees outwards and downwards. DIN 30710 requires eight symmetrically positioned standard areas on the front and rear. This corresponds to a size of four individual areas each. A standard surface consists of a square measuring 141 x 141 mm and a single surface consists of a rectangle measuring 141 x 282 mm. Thus, a warning marking for a car or other emergency and municipal vehicle consists of a total of 16 standard areas or 8 individual areas. A standard surface may not be used individually as a warning marking in accordance with DIN 30710, but must be applied as a single surface. Marking the side surfaces with warning markings for lorries and cars is recommended – especially on vehicles that may be positioned perpendicular to the direction of travel or are used on motorways. However, this is not mandatory.
