Applying vehicle warning markings correctly
The warning markings on various special and emergency vehicles are subject to strict regulations. Vehicle drivers and employers must ensure that all vehicles are always correctly equipped. In addition, the warning markings must comply with the currently applicable specifications.
These reflective markings in red and white (e.g. motorway maintenance vehicles) or red and yellow (e.g. fire brigade and rescue service vehicles) can be purchased by the roll. We offer them as ready-made sets in the form of warning marking kits.
Here we show you how you and your employees can apply warning markings cleanly and easily, even without prior knowledge.
Possible problems when applying vehicle warning markings
Classic warning markings are available in rolls, for example, from which you can cut the desired length manually. However, correct warning markings must comply with very specific requirements. Depending on the side of the vehicle, the films must be applied correctly facing left or right.
Correct application of the warning markings on your vehicle comprises eight so-called standard areas at the front and another eight at the rear. This means that four standard areas measuring 141 × 141 mm must be applied to each side. This can cause a number of problems for inexperienced hands. The cuts must not impair the surfaces and must be straight and sufficiently large. In addition, every vehicle, i.e. emergency vehicles, vans and all smaller cars, has its own unique characteristics and body shape. Warning markings from the roll must therefore be manually adapted to these shapes and uneven surfaces during application and sticking. Once applied, mistakes are difficult to correct. Poor application can lead to a shorter service life for the warning marking. If it does not meet the specifications, you will have to remove it and reapply it.
Problems with marking films from the roll:
- Difficult to cut to size, inaccuracies lead to errors
- Difficult to stick/apply manually, crooked results possible
- Markings from rolls are difficult to adapt to the car body, which could result in poor attachment and thus a short service life
- Application costs time, money and nerves
- Requires a lot of practice and know-how

Easy to apply: vehicle warning markings as sets
We manufacture warning marking sets for you. These consist of several parts that are pre-cut and pre-formed, so they fit perfectly to the vehicle geometry and cannot slip, tear or be damaged in any other way. The sets consist of around a dozen individual parts and are supplied with precise labelling and installation instructions. Even if you are not an expert, you can apply the tension-free, microprismatic films yourself.
- Unpack your set and lay out all the parts.
- Clean the areas of the vehicle where the films are to be applied: dust-free and dry.
- Spray the adhesive side of the film and the surface with the optional adhesive fluid to avoid adhesion problems later.
- Apply the marking part comfortably and precisely to the described location. Thanks to the fluid, repositioning is possible.
- Once you are satisfied with the positioning, smooth it out with your hands and a squeegee.
- Then wipe off any remaining fluid with a cloth.
- Repeat this process for all other parts of the warning marking set and apply them.
- After a short drying time, the vehicle is immediately ready for use and correctly marked!
