Warning marking kits for vehicles with special rights

Vehicles with special privileges that must display warning markings include emergency vehicles belonging to the police, fire brigade and rescue services. These vehicles have the right to deviate from traffic regulations when responding to emergencies in order to reach the scene quickly.

Furthermore, other vehicles with special rights are also required to carry out certain tasks in a municipal context. These include motorway vehicles, cars and vans belonging to certain construction companies, as well as vehicles from the fleets of building yards in towns and municipalities.

What special rights can vehicles with warning markings have?

Apart from emergency and rescue vehicles, special rights and the associated warning markings serve to enable vehicles to carry out certain tasks. For example, special vehicles may have to remain in a certain location for a longer period of time or even in a no-stopping zone, where average motorists would be committing an offence.

The special rights include, among other things, exceeding speed limits, ignoring red lights and stopping and parking in unauthorised places. These rights are set out in German road traffic law in sections §§ 35 and 38 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). However, the special rights under § 38 are reserved for emergency vehicles with blue flashing lights. § 35 applies, for example, to construction and cleaning vehicles as well as refuse collection vehicles, which must be able to perform their duties without obstruction. Paragraph 6 of the law states, for example:

„Vehicles used for the construction, maintenance or cleaning of roads and facilities in the street area or for refuse collection and marked with white -red-white warning devices, may drive and stop on all roads and parts of roads and on either side of the road in any direction at all times […]“

How must vehicles with special rights be marked?

All special vehicles from municipalities and similar organisations must be equipped with a sufficient number of red and white standard markings. The regulations for adequate warning markings are laid down in the DIN 30710 standard. This standard forms the basis for the manufacture of our warning marking sets. Our products are special microprismatic, self-adhesive films in signal colours. The aforementioned standard surfaces must be affixed to a certain number of vehicles that have special rights. Each standard surface refers to a field measuring 144 × 144 mm. A total of eight of these standard areas must be affixed to the front and rear of the special vehicle. This means that four left- and four right-facing areas must be affixed to each side of the vehicle.

These specifications are the minimum; more warning markings are certainly possible. This allows other road users to recognise from a distance that a vehicle is deliberately parked in a certain place and perceive it as an obstacle. The warning markings must be complete and undamaged. Although the films are very robust, minor damage can occur from time to time. If you opt for warning markings from a roll, the surfaces may need to be laboriously renewed.
