The selection of warning markings
How do you choose the right warning markings for different applications, industries and vehicles? In this blog post, we explore the question of who needs to consider what when it comes to correctly marking certain emergency or special-purpose vehicles with warning markings.
This time, we are focusing more on special-purpose vehicles that are used in municipalities, for example. Emergency vehicles used by the fire brigade, police and other services must also be correctly marked in order to be allowed on the road. For this purpose, we offer red and white or red and yellow warning markings in signal colours for various types of vehicles. The variety of special vehicles: Who uses warning markings to move freely on German roads?
Apart from the above-mentioned emergency vehicles used by rescue services, warning markings are also mandatory for many other vehicles. This applies to municipal vehicles and those that are used and operate on country roads, motorways or in urban areas, for example.

- Agricultural businesses
This also results in the typical vehicles that are on the roads with warning markings. If you belong to the above institutions and companies, you must mark construction vehicles of all kinds, cleaning vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, tow trucks or your agricultural vehicles accordingly. This does not apply to the latter if you are only driving on your own property and do not use public roads and paths. This also includes forest roads.
Where can I find the right warning markings for my vehicle?

The warning markings are offered in sets of around a dozen parts for each vehicle. This means that there is no need to cut the markings to size, and you only need to stick the individual parts where the instructions indicate: assembly instructions are, of course, included in the delivery.
Not only do you avoid mistakes when cutting and save time when applying, but delivery as a set has two further advantages. Firstly, the warning markings are curved to match the bodywork and therefore last longer. Secondly, the sets are ideal for stocking up. If any of the markings are damaged, you don't have to buy a whole new set of warning markings; instead, you can order the specific part from us.
Legal requirements for correct warning markings
All special rights for vehicles with warning markings are regulated in §35 (6) StVO (German Road Traffic Regulations). The warning markings themselves must meet high standards of visibility and durability. They consist of highly resistant microprismatic reflective films in the signal colours red-white or red-yellow.
Note: The specified colour scheme may depend on the respective regulations of the federal states.
The exact nature and dimensions, and thus the minimum sizes, of warning markings on special vehicles are precisely regulated in DIN 30710. This refers to so-called standard areas. A standard area corresponds to 141 × 141 mm. A total of four standard areas must be affixed to the front and rear of each side of the vehicle, pointing to the left and right.
